Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, installed c.1940, having panelled margins and door with embossed 'P&T' insignia and makers mark reading: 'Jessop Davis Enniscorthy'. Set within roughcast rendered gate pier.
This cast-iron post-box, which is still in use, is an attractive item of street furniture and represents the quality of mid twentieth century mass-produced cast-iron work. The raised detailing in the Celtic Revival style is of artistic interest, and represents the continued promotion of a national identity within the emergent independent state.
