Appraisal

This cast-iron post-box, which is still in use, is an attractive item of street furniture and represents the quality of mid twentieth century mass-produced cast-iron work. The raised detailing in the Celtic Revival style is of artistic interest, and represents the continued promotion of a national identity within the emergent independent state.
