Description

Pole-mounted cast-iron post box, erected c.1930, comprising round-headed box with raised display panel and P&T emblem. Mounted on replacement cast-iron post.

Appraisal

This box was erected following the establishment of the Free State, apparent from the Celtic script of the Post and Telegraph emblem. Traditional cast-iron boxes such as this one are becoming increasingly rare throughout Ireland, due to modern plastic replacement.
