Bridge and sluice carrying road over Slatty Channel, built 1807, of coursed rock-faced limestone construction with carved limestone copings to parapet walls, carved limestone plaques with incised lettering to east parapet wall and round-headed arches to sluice openings.
Well-executed limestone bridge linking Foaty Island to the mainland. Until the construction of an embankment and sluice on this site in the early nineteenth century, the land to the east of Slatty Bridge was submerged under sea water as far inland as Barry's Court castle. An imperative and technically interesting part of the architectural heritage of this area, it forms a pleasing feature in the landscape.
