Cast-iron post box, erected c.1930, with barrelled cap and raised lettering to front. Located to roadside.
This cast-iron post box, which is still in use, is an attractive item of street furniture and represents a notable surviving artefact of mass-produced cast-iron work. The raised Gaelic script lettering alludes to the Celtic Revival, representing the promotion of a national identity within the emergent Independent state in the early twentieth century.
