Freestanding square-profile brick chimney, built c. 1955. Brick plinth, tapered shaft and render corniced coping. Round arch relieving arch motif to base.
Part of large coherently planned group of hospital structures, built as Tuberculosis Sanatorium under Doctor Noel Browne as Minister for Health. Chimney interesting example of industrial architecture, along with nearby water tower. Sanatorium originally included working farm. Forms interesting group with nearby weighbridge and building with vents. Visible from road, it adds context and interest to the site.
