Two-arch bridge over river, c.1800. Ivy-covered uncoursed rough cut rubble sandstone walls with rendered rounded coping to benchmark-inscribed parapets. Pair of round arches on sandstone ashlar triangular cutwaters having pyramidal capping with sandstone ashlar voussoirs. Sited spanning Owenbaun River with unkempt banks to river.
A bridge representing an integral component of the built heritage of County Cork with the elegant arches making a pleasing visual statement at a crossing over Owenbaun River. The parapets show much evidence of repeated partial reconstruction but retain a benchmark of interest for its connections with cartography and the preparation of maps by the Ordnance Survey (established 1824).
