Detached three-bay single-storey former gate lodge, built c.1900, having advanced gabled end-bay with box bay window to east. Now in use as offices. Pitched slate roof with red brick chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls having timber Tudor detailing to gable. Square-headed window openings with limestone sills and timber casement windows. Square-headed door opening having red brick block-and-start surround to half-glazed timber door with cut limestone threshold.
A delightful former gate lodge located at the western entrance to the University College Cork campus. The advanced bay, Tudor timber detailing, and sloping site combine to create a picturesque building. Historic features including tooled limestone window sills, timber windows, and red brick door surrounds add colour and textural interest.
