Description

Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, erected c.1930, with raised 'P&T' monogram in Gaelic script. Set in rubble stone wall and located to roadside.

Appraisal

This mid-twentieth-century post box is an fine example of design possibilities of mass produced cast-iron. Its Celtic Revival style lettering is typical the identity adopted by the Free State government departments in post-Independence Ireland.
