Description

Detached three-bay two-storey school, built c.1900, now in use as outbuilding. Pitched slate roof with vent to ridge and cast-iron rainwater goods. Render walls. Square-headed window openings with render sills throughout, having two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed door opening to front (north) elevation with double-leaf timber panelled door, margined overlight and limestone step. Set within recent school grounds.

Appraisal

This former school retains much of its original form and fabric, such as a slate roof, ridge vent and sash windows. Built as an industrial school to train young women in household duties, it played an important role in the local social fabric in the past.
