Pair of freestanding water towers, built c.1930. Hexagonal steel plate water tanks surmounting square-profile piers. Over sailing impost course to piers. Round-headed arches and plinth to central pier. Set within the former military barracks, they were probably built following its decommissioning.
This pair of water towers adds a great deal of interest to the streetscape whilst serving as a reminder of the technological improvements in water supply technology that took place during the mid-twentieth century, namely the introduction of piped water in towns and villages.
