Attached eight-bay three-storey former hotel with canted oriel windows (north-west), built c.1870, with pub front and shopfront to ground floor. Recent canted porch to front (north-east) and various two-storey extensions to rear (south-west). Pitched slate roof having rendered parapet, rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls with blind render panels (second floor), moulded render cornice below parapet and render platband between first and second floors having raised timber lettering and anchor motifs. Square-headed openings with diminishing one-over-one and two-over-two (ground floor) timber sliding sash windows with painted stone sills and rendered surrounds. Wrought-iron sill guards to ground floor. Carved timber pub front to west end of front (north-east) elevation comprising pilasters supporting fluted bracket capitals with pediments, fascia board and dentilated cornice. Square-headed opening with timber fixed pane display window. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door and overlight. Replacement shopfront to east end of front elevation comprising timber fixed pane display window with plastic fascia board. Square-headed door opening to porch with timber glazed door and sidelights.
An imposing building retaining many interesting features. The highly decorative and distinctive oriel windows are particularly noteworthy. Render detailing and a variety of timber sliding sash windows distinguish the façade. Occupying a prominent site within the town, the survival of this building enhances the streetscape and architectural heritage of Bantry town.
