Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, c.1905, with Edward VII crown and royal insignia. Rectangular aperture and display panel. Set in entrance sweep walls.
Appraisal
An attractive item of street furniture that has remained in use since its installation. It is a fine example of mass produced cast-iron post boxes with the raised lettering and crown motif adding an artistic dimension to the functional object. Post-boxes of this period are becoming increasingly rare.
