Appraisal

An excellent example of the Art Deco style, which is a rare fine throughout the country. It is particularly unusual to fine a building of this style outside the main cities. Surviving with much of its original fabric intact, it is a carefully detailed and well executed building. The bas relief plaque by the well known Cork sculptor, Seamus Murphy, depicts a woman working a loom, with spools of thread of either side, and appropriate motif for a purpose built textile factory.
