Description

Appraisal

Cork Opera House was designed by architect Michael Scott, and is the second opera house to stand on this site. Built in the 1960s, this building replaced a mid nineteenth century building which was destroyed by fire in 1955. Though altered in 2000 and with the Scott fa├žade removed, the interior and particularly the auditorium retains much of the original form and design.
