End-of-terrace two-bay two-storey purpose-built retail outlet and house, built c. 1892. Pitched slate roof with red brick chimneystacks and rooflight additions. Rendered walls having string course at sill level of first floor windows. Shopfront comprising of render pilasters with chamfered reveals and moulded render capitals, having render fascia and moulded cornice above. Timber sliding sash windows to upper floors. Timber fixed windows and timber panelled doors to ground floor. Marble plaque to north elevation.
This purpose-built house and retail outlet is an interesting reminder of the provisions which were made for living over the shop during the nineteenth century. The simple, though well-executed shopfront is a notable feature of the building and it is unusually unaltered. The retention of the timber sliding sash windows, slate roof and marble plaque contribute to the significance of the building. Plaque erected by members of E Coy. 2nd Batt. Cork No. 1 Brigade IRA.
