Description

Cut stone mill race, built c. 1830, and waterwheel, forming surviving parts of Ennis Corn Mill, demolished, c. 1980. Fragment of rendered wall with cut-stone stone semi-circular opening housing axle of mill wheel. Cast-iron wheel with replacement timber paddles. Cast-iron sluice gate directly upstream. Cut-stone faced mill pond leading to millrace. Rubble stone walls and foot bridge to site, built c. 1990. Site of Ennis Mills sold by Earl of Thomond in 1712. Purchased by Bannatynes in 1824.
