Description

Humpbacked single-arch road bridge over the River Slaney, built c.1820. The bridge is constructed in coursed rubble with dressed granite voussoirs to the large segmental arch. To the north end there is a small flood arch with rough voussoirs, above which there is a further set of dressed granite voussoirs. There are large buttresses to the north end also, probably added in the later 19th or 20th century. The low parapets have dressed granite coping.

Appraisal

Despite the large (and probably later) buttresses, this small early 19th-century bridge blends in well with its rural surroundings.
