Description

Two-arch road bridge over river, extant 1798. Overgrown walls centred on triangular cutwater to pier to upriver (north) elevation having moss-covered pyramidal capping with overgrown coping to parapets. Pair of elliptical or segmental arches with overgrown voussoirs. Sited spanning Owenduff River with overgrown banks to river.

Appraisal

A bridge representing an integral component of the eighteenth-century civil engineering heritage of south County Wexford. NOTE: A recent monument (1998) commemorates 'all who died in the ambush at Taylorstown Bridge where John Murphy of Loughnageer led the Rosegarland Corps of United Irish against a party of yeomanry retreating to Duncanoon Fort 30th May 1798' (cf. 15704104).
