Detached three-bay two-storey farmhouse, built 1912, on a T-shaped plan with single-bay (single-bay deep) two-storey lower central return (south). Refenestrated, ----. Pitched slate roof on a T-shaped plan centred on hipped slate roof (south), perforated crested clay ridge tiles, coping to gables with rendered chimney stacks to apexes having stepped capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Rendered, ruled and lined walls; slate hung surface finish to side (west) elevation. Round- or segmental-headed central door opening approached by two steps, rendered surround having concave reveals framing timber panelled door having fanlight. Square-headed window openings with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings with hood mouldings on label stops framing replacement aluminium casement windows. Set in landscaped grounds.
A farmhouse representing an integral component of the domestic built heritage of the outskirts of New Ross with the architectural value of the composition suggested by such attributes as the compact plan form centred on a restrained doorcase showing a simple fanlight; the slight diminishing in scale of the openings on each floor producing a feint graduated visual impression; and the high pitched roofline. Having been well maintained, the elementary form and massing survive intact together with substantial quantities of the original fabric, both to the exterior and to the interior, including a partial slate hung surface finish widely regarded as an increasingly endangered hallmark of the architectural heritage of County Wexford: however, the introduction of replacement fittings to most of the openings has not had a beneficial impact on the character or integrity of the composition. Furthermore, adjacent outbuildings (extant 1840) continue to contribute positively to the group and setting values of a self-contained ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in a street scene presently (2007) undergoing extensive "suburban" redevelopment.
