Description

Graveyard with collection of cut-limestone markers, ob. 1761-1921. Set in unkempt grounds with piers to perimeter having lichen-covered rough hewn granite capping supporting flat iron "farm gate".

Appraisal

A graveyard representing an important component of the ecclesiastical heritage of County Wexford [SMR WX028-003002-] with a collection of markers signed by Dennis Cullen (----) of Monaseed; Miles Brien (----) of Rathduff; and James Byrne (---) of Clone exemplifying the Irish Churchyard Sculpture tradition in County Wexford (Longfield 1974, 20): meanwhile, a comparatively inconspicuous marker identifies the resting place of John Mangan (1872-1916) of Ballynahask, "World's Champion Heavyweight Thrower".
