Description
Gateway, extant 1839, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of granite ashlar piers on chamfered plinths having "Cyma Recta" or "Cyma Reversa" cornices below ball finial-topped capping supporting wrought iron double gates. Lane fronted at entrance to grounds of Ballycrystal House.
Appraisal
A gateway surviving as an interesting relic of the Ballycrystal House estate following the destruction of the eponymous house during the 1798 Insurrection.
