Description

Graveyard with collection of lichen-spotted markers, ob. 1722-1946. Set in unkempt grounds with creeper- or ivy-covered piers to perimeter supporting wrought iron double gates.

Appraisal

A graveyard representing an important component of the ecclesiastical heritage of north County Wexford [SMR WX003-008001-] with a collection of markers signed by James Byrne (----) of Clone exemplifying the Irish Churchyard Sculpture tradition in County Wexford: meanwhile, a plaque (1998) commemorates the unmarked plots 'in which are buried many of those who fell at the Battle of Arklow [9th June 1798]'.
