Terraced three-bay two-storey house, c.1850, possibly incorporating fabric of earlier range, pre-1840, on site. Part refenestrated, c.1950. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered and red brick Running bond chimney stacks having capping supporting terracotta pots or yellow terracotta tapered pots, rendered coping, and iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves having iron ties. Rendered, ruled and lined walls. Square-headed window openings with sills, and two-over-two timber sash windows having iron sill guard to ground floor (square-headed window opening to left ground floor probably remodelled, c.1950, with no sill, and fixed-pane (three-light) timber window). Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door. Street fronted with concrete footpath to front.
Making a positive contribution to the character or streetscape value of John Street Upper on account of the massing rising slightly over the flanking ranges in the street, a house of small to modest size retains most of the elementary composition attributes together with substantial quantities of the historic fabric.
