Appraisal

An attractive composition of simple appearance, which forms a subtle feature in the streetscape to the north of Tyrrellspass. This gateway forms the northern entrance to the former Belvedere Orphan Institute, a charitable institution created at the bequest of Jane, Countess of Belvedere (died 1836).
