Detached four-bay two-storey house, built c.1864, with single-bay full-height gabled breakfront to entrance front. Gazebo and sun room added c.1900, single-bay two-storey crenellated extension, c.1960. Pitched natural slate roof with decorative ridge tiles, cast-iron finials and decorative bargeboards. Roughcast rendered. Plaque of Longwood Family over crenellated extension. Square-headed window openings with timber casement windows, Venetian window to ground floor to west of projecting porch. Square-headed doorcase to breakfront with timber canopy porch above. Set in extensive landscaped grounds to the north of Athlone town centre.
A substantial mid-Victorian house which retains its character and much of its early fabric despite numerous later extensions and alterations. It is set in extensive landscaped grounds and remains an attractive feature on the Ballymahon Road, to the north of Athlone.
