Cast-iron wall-mounted post box, c.1930, with P&T emblem.
Appraisal
This mid twentieth-century post box is of a simple design, which has little decorative detailing. The traditional Gaelic form of the lettering, which was employed for many public uses, in the post Independence period in Ireland is noteworthy. Post boxes of the mid twentieth-century are becoming increasingly rare, as they are not afforded the protection of older boxes, though they are equally threatened.
