Description

Detached five-bay single-storey former national school, built c.1860, now derelict. Rendered rubble limestone walls, with some ashlar quoins visible. Pitched slate roof with timber eaves board and carved timber bargeboards to gable ends. Square-headed opening with stone lintels and sills. Timber sheet door with ashlar limestone surround.

Appraisal

This former retains many of its original features and is enhanced by the carved timber bargeboards. The stonework used in the construction of this building is of particularly high quality with dressed limestone used to frame the window and door openings. It forms part of a group of educational buildings located at Woodpole crossroads.
