Description

Detached five-bay single-storey former teacher's house, with attic accommodation, built c.1860, now derelict. Rendered walls. Pitched slate roof with red brick chimneystack and carved timber bargeboards to gable ends. Timber sash windows with render surrounds and stone sills. Projecting porch with cornice and timber panelled door flanked by sidelights. Some interior features remain. Stone outbuilding to site. Bounded by rendered walls having stone gate piers with cast-iron gates.

Appraisal

This house is noteworthy primarily for its level of artistic detailing. The façade is enhanced by the render window surrounds and the entrance porch while the gable ends have carved timber bargeboard. The house is part of a group of educational buildings located at Woodpole crossroads.
