Description

Detached eleven-bay six-storey water mill, built 1783, with remains of cast-iron water wheel. Five-bay five-storey and six-bay six-storey extensions to south with ridge-high firewalls. Various mid-twentieth-century single-storey extensions. Double-pitched roof, natural slates with double span roof to extensions, monopitched and double-pitched corrugated iron roofs to extensions, cross wall fire breaks. Coursed rubble, inscribed round stone plaque - 'Connolly Clarke, Fay 1783' to southernmost extension. No cills, brick dressing to segmental-headed window opes, remains of sash windows and timber grills, T & G deal door, oval metal plaque above door ope depicting ploughman and plough, T & G deal shutters.
