Appraisal

The survival of this large and imposing lime works is a reminder of the process by which lime, one of the primary constituents of historic mortars, was made. Though built for industrial processes the applied to the structure, such as the crenellated parapet and bell tower, can not be over-looked. Proleek Lime Works is a significant site within Louth and an important piece of the industrial heritage of the county.
