Description

Ruins of Saint Leonard's Hospital and Priory c. 1200, Seatown graveyard to south. Random rubble stone walling with barrel vault to west side of site. Random rubble stone walls to east and west of ruins with upright stone grave markers against walls.

Appraisal

The ruins of Saint Leonard's Hospital and Priory date from the twelfth to the sixteenth century and, with the later Seatown Cemetery used until 1896, form an important archaeological, historical and socially important site within the heart of Dundalk. Though in a ruinous state this structure forms an important part of the architectural heritage of Dundalk.
