Drag edged dragged limestone ashlar wall on drag edged dragged cut-limestone chamfered plinth with ogee-detailed pediment framing coat of arms (east) or drag edged cut-limestone oval date stone (west). Round-headed central carriageway with dragged limestone ashlar voussoirs centred on drag edged dragged cut-limestone fluted keystone framing wrought iron double gates. Pair of square-headed flanking pedestrian gateways below ovoid niches with drag edged dragged cut-limestone lintels framing wrought iron gates. Road fronted on a slightly elevated site at entrance to grounds of Balls Grove.
A "Triumphal Arch" gateway erected by George Ball (1775-1842) making a pleasing visual statement in a suburbanised street scene at the entrance on to the grounds of the Balls Grove estate.
