Description
Single-arch rubble limestone hump back road bridge over stream, c.1800. Random rubble limestone walls with inscribed cut-limestone plaque, and squared rubble limestone coping to parapets. Single round arch with cut-stone voussoirs having keystone, and rendered soffits. Sited spanning stream with grass banks to stream.
Appraisal
A pleasantly-composed bridge representing an important element of the civil engineering heritage of County Kilkenny as identified by features including the construction of the arch. Distinctive attributes including the position rising dramatically over a stream together with the humped deck ensure the status of the bridge as an appealing landmark in the locality.
