Two-arch rubble limestone road bridge over river, c.1800. Random rubble limestone walls with rubble limestone triangular cut-water to pier, and rubble limestone coping to parapets. Pair of segmental arches with squared rubble stone voussoirs, and rendered soffits. Sited spanning Dinin River.
An elegantly-composed bridge of considerable vintage incorporating two substantial arches resting on a slender pier, thereby representing an important element of the civil engineering heritage of County Kilkenny. Making a positive impression at a crossing over the Dinin River the construction in locally-sourced rubble stone produces a rustic quality serving to integrate the composition pleasantly into the surrounding rural landscape.
