Two-arch rubble limestone road bridge over river, c.1825. Random squared rubble limestone walls with tooled limestone ashlar rounded triangular cut-water to pier, and cut-limestone coping to parapets. Pair of camber arches with tooled limestone ashlar voussoirs having keystones, and squared limestone soffits. Sited spanning Clogh River with grass banks to river.
An elegantly-appointed bridge representing an important component of the early nineteenth-century civil engineering heritage of County Kilkenny. The profile of the arches combined with the ashlar dressings displaying expert stone masonry introduce a formal quality to an otherwise rustic bridge with the resulting composition making a pleasant impression on the aesthetic appeal of the landscape.
