Description

Multiple-span cast-iron aqueduct, dated 1885. Now disused. Random rubble limestone tapered piers with squared limestone quoins supporting cast-iron panelled aqueduct on cast-iron girder spans. Set back from road in grounds shared with Greenville Mill House.

Appraisal

Constructed by the B. Graham Company of Waterford an extensive aqueduct represents an important element of the civil or industrial engineering heritage of Kilmacow while forming one of the last surviving components of a once-extensive flour mill complex. Although now disused the survival of substantial quantities of the original fabric maintains the integrity of an artefact making a strong visual impression in the grounds of Greenville Mill House.
