Appraisal

A collection of buildings forming a small-scale farmyard complex of modest quality making a pleasing visual impression in the locality. A symmetrically-composed farmhouse alluding to a vernacular interpretation of the Classical tradition features a shallow breakfront not only enhancing the architectural design value of the composition but also representing a feature characteristic of certain farmhouses in County Kilkenny (see also 12403111/KK-31-11; 12404001, 8/KK-40-01, 8). Although now long disused each range nevertheless retains most of the original composition attributes together with substantial quantities of the early fabric, thereby maintaining the positive contribution made to the character of the area.
