Single-arch limestone ashlar road bridge over river, c.1850. Now disused. Rock-faced limestone ashlar walls with rock-faced limestone ashlar coping supporting decorative wrought iron railings to parapet having rock-faced limestone terminating piers. Single segmental arch with rock-faced limestone ashlar voussoirs, and squared rubble limestone soffits having traces of render over. Sited spanning Pill River.
An attractive bridge forming an important element of the Bessborough House (Kildalton College) estate having been built to provide access to a secondary entrance on to the grounds. Decorative iron railings enhancing the architectural or artistic design quality of the composition suggest the equal importance placed on the aesthetic as well as functional role of such estate-related structures.
