Detached three-bay three-storey house, c.1800, on a corner site. Renovated, c.1900, with shopfront inserted to ground floor. Refenestrated, 2004. Now in use as two separate two-bay three-storey (north) and single-bay three-storey (south) houses. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stack, and iron rainwater goods on overhanging rendered eaves having iron ties. Painted rendered, ruled and lined wall to front (west) elevation with rendered quoins to ends, and unpainted rendered, ruled and lined walls to remainder. Square-headed window openings with cut-stone sills, moulded rendered surrounds, and replacement timber casement windows, 2004, to left (north) having replacement uPVC casement windows, 2004, to right (south). Timber panelled shopfront, c.1900, to ground floor (originally accommodating two separate commercial spaces) with panelled pilasters having decorative consoles, replacement timber (left) and uPVC (right) casement windows, 2004, on panelled stall risers, timber panelled door and double doors having overlights, fascia on moulded course having Celtic strap work detailing, and moulded cornice on corbels. Road fronted on a corner site with concrete brick cobbled footpath to front.
An elegantly-appointed substantial house retaining much of the original form and massing despite subsequently having been subdivided to accommodate two separate units. Although some of the ensuing renovation works have not had a positive bearing on the external expression of the composition the survival of a finely-crafted shopfront of considerable artistic design merit significantly enhances the visual appeal of the site in the streetscape.
