Wall-mounted cast-iron post box, between 1901-10, with raised "ER VII" royal cipher. Set in random rubble limestone boundary wall.
An attractive, if unassuming feature in the streetscape representing an early artefact of mass-produced cast-iron work supplied by the W.T. Allen and Company Foundry of London. Raised accents enlivening the artistic design significance of the composition include a royal cipher of importance as a tangible reminder of the period when Ireland formed part of the British Empire.
