Description

Terraced three-bay two-storey house, c.1850. Renovated, c.1900, with shopfront inserted to ground floor. Refenestrated, c.1950. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Painted rendered walls with profiled rendered band to eaves. Square-headed window openings with concealed sills, rendered surrounds, and replacement timber casement windows, c.1950. Timber shopfront, c.1900, to ground floor with pilasters, fixed-pane timber windows, timber panelled door, glazed timber panelled door to house, and fascia over having moulded cornice. Road fronted with concrete footpath to front.

Appraisal

A modest-scale house retaining most of the historic composition attributes together with substantial quantities of the early fabric including a fine shopfront of artistic design merit displaying good quality craftsmanship while maximising on the streetscape presence of the site at street level.
