Description

Four-span mass concrete road bridge over river, c.1950. Mass concrete piers. Concrete stringcourse. Mass concrete parapet walls with dressed granite coping. Four square-headed spans (one filled in with concrete). Sited spanning River Greese.

Appraisal

Levitstown Bridge, built to replace an earlier bridge on site, is an attractive and subtle feature on the River Greese. The construction of the bridge is of technical or engineering importance, as is the early use of mass concrete.
