Gateway, c.1870, comprising four open work cast-iron piers with cast-iron double gates and flanking pedestrian gates having urn and trefoil motifs. One of a number of identical gateways - original and modern replica - throughout The Curragh Camp.

Appraisal

This gateway, together with the accompanying models located throughout The Curragh Camp, is a good example of Victorian craftsmanship, design and the development and use of cast-iron. The decorative features, including urns and trefoil motifs, render the gateway as a considerable artistic achievement.
