Description

Gateway, c.1890, comprising pair of roughcast piers with cut-granite profiled capping having cast-iron double gates with 'Fleur-de-Lys' finials and rubble stone curved flanking walls.

Appraisal

This gateway – which now provides access into a communal park/green area - is a fine and unimposing structure on the streetscape of Kill, which is of social and historical value constituting the final reminder of the former parochial house on site. The decorative gates are of some artistic merit and are a fine example of early surviving cast-iron work.
