Terraced two-bay two-storey house, c.1840, possibly originally part of larger composition with building to left (south-west) retaining early aspect. Gable-ended roof with slate. Clay ridge tiles. Rendered and red brick chimney stacks. Cast-iron rainwater goods on eaves course. Roughcast walls. Painted. Square-headed openings. Stone sills. Early 6/6 timber sash windows. Timber panelled door. Overlight. Road fronted. Concrete flagged footpath to front.
This house, possibly originally built as part of a three-bay composition with the building to left (south-west), is an attractive building of little pretension that has been well-maintained to present an early aspect. The house is of social interest as one of the earliest houses on Main Street and one that remains in residential use. Many important early or original salient features and materials remain in situ, including multi-pane timber sash fenestration, timber fittings to the door opening and a slate roof with cast-iron rainwater goods. The house has a positive impact on the streetscape of Main Street, continuing the established steetline of the street while contributing to the varied roofline of the terrace.
