Description

Detached five-bay single-storey railway station, c.1850, with gabled entrance bay and three-bay single-storey extension to left-hand side. Timber canopies with decorative eaves supported by red brick walls to both platforms, which are linked by a cast-iron pedestrian bridge. Stone and cast-iron road bridge and red brick outbuilding to site. ROOF: Double pitched to ticket office; asbestos concrete tiles; red brick corniced chimneys; terracotta ridging; timber barge boards; finial to gable; flat felted roofs to canopies; corrugated iron roof to outbuilding. WALLS: Nap rendered; handmade red brick with original pointing to platform canopies; painted to front. OPENINGS: Square headed; rendered reveals; painted stone cills; uPVC casement frames; square headed doorcase; glazed panels flanking double doors; arched openings on platform walls with replacement timber doors.
