Description

Wall-mounted cast-iron "wall box" post box, extant 1910, with "ER [Edwardus Rex] VII" royal cipher. SITE: Set in ivy-covered repointed rubble stone boundary wall. GENERAL: Supplied by W.T. Allen and Company (fl. 1881-1955) of London. Refitted with door carrying the Saorstát Éireann emblem adopted (1928) by the Irish Free State (fl. 1922-37) following Independence (1922).
