Description

Graveyard with collection of lichen-spotted markers, 1731-1896. Set in landscaped grounds centred on Saint Selskar's Church.

Appraisal

A graveyard representing an important component of the ecclesiastical heritage of Wexford [SMR WX037-032028-]. NOTE: A weathered marker commemorates 'William Daniel...of the unfortunate Ninety eight Who Suffered on Wexford Bridge 20th of June 1798' while a later tomb houses the remains of 'Mrs. Dorcas Catherine McGee [whose son] THOMAS D'ARCY McGEE became a founding father of Canada and was assassinated in Ottawa on April 7th 1868'.
