Appraisal

A monument 'unveiled by the Most Reverend James Browne [1842-1917] Bishop of Ferns' commemorating Reverend James Canon Roche (1801-83) 'the founder of the Church of the Immaculate Conception and its twin sister the Church of the Assumption' (cf. 15505043). NOTE: Variously attributed to Terence Farrell (1798-1876) of Dublin (Strickland 1913, 339) or Sir Thomas Farrell (1827-1900) of Dublin (English 1958, 129).
