Carved limestone panel, date unknown, inset into a gate-pier at the entrance to Ballycloghduff house (15403013). Panel has a figure carved in bas-relief holding a key. Located to the northeast of Mount Temple.
An unusual plaque/carved panel of artistic merit that must have been moved to its present location from another site. It appears to depict a human figure holding a key in one hand. However, it may be a sheela-na-gig. The fact that it is carved in bas-relief would suggest a pre-1700 date but it could well be an example of vernacular folk art from a later date. This is an unusual and interesting feature in the landscape to the northeast of Mount Temple.
